Ten Days Were Way Too Fast
I just finished my Classic Fast Flash© workshop with Kathy Fish!
Phew! It was quite the ride. I think I wrote some seriously good pieces and met some really amazing writers!
Besides generating so much new work, I found that I really loved the positive feedback and encouragement. Such a far cry from my workshopping experiences in my MFA days.
Each day was a new way to try something and experiment with my writing style. It was scary but also eye opening. I wrote things I most likely would never have written.
I have to admit though as I read the other writers’ works, I kept asking myself what the hell am I doing here, what do I have to offer that these writers aren’t already doing, and doing better than I ever could…I hate that voice… I fight her every day. It got so bad that I tweeted about my stupid imposter syndrome.
I pushed through. I wrote. I submitted the pieces I thought were ready and hoped were good enough for acceptance somewhere. That’s all I could really do. If they are rejected, I will just keep trying because that’s what we do as writers, right?
I am sad that it’s over but it really did help me with my #The100DayProject of 100 Days of Flash which as of today means I have written 12 entirely new stories!!
My daily ukulele practice has been enhanced with the Ukulele Aerobics book which I hope ups my skill level a little bit.
Here’s to more daily creativeness!!
