Get in Your Submissions to Gooseberry Pie and What's Next

It’s April 11 here in Japan, but it’s still the 10th in North America (and Europe?), so you still have time to send in your 6-sentence micros to Gooseberry Pie’s 2nd Annual Contest!! I will be reading the shortlist blind so I hope you consider submitting even if I know you!! I’m really excited to see what Jeff chooses!!

As I come down from the stress of focusing on AWP for over a year, I keep thinking to myself - what comes next. I know that I need to finish my novel. I know that I should get back into writing again but honestly, I am so damn burnt out. Even attending a workshop seems like too much…and I have to be okay with that.

It’s okay. I tell myself as I soothe the anxiety of not constantly being published or getting my work accepted - I’m at about 50 rejections so far and only 2 acceptances.

I think I will be kind to myself and accept that this is fine and I will write when I’m ready. Sending light, love and creativity to you all. Be kind to yourselves. Especially now.
