AWP Panels Rejection, Milestone Birthday, My Bike Came Early and Contrast CT Scans Are Weird
I know I threw up a post on twitter about my AWP Panel rejections (one being about rejections) but I just wanted to discuss a little bit about it here.
When I decided to attend AWP (last January), I knew that I would have to bust my ass to try to get a panel so that I could get a lower conference fee. I also knew that I would also have to bust my ass to fundraise for it because there was/is no way I could pay to attend out of my own pocket.
That being said, I really thought that at least one panel would be accepted. I thought that the one on rejection would be a shoe in… we are all writers… we all face rejections constantly… I also thought that a panel on novel writing and flash would be amazing and lo and behold that’s one of only 2 flash panels that was accepted.
I am so grateful that knowing I had a table at AWP for Literary Namjooning (sponsored by Mythic Picnic) alleviated the stress about needing those panels to be accepted.
I’m also glad I didn’t receive the email until after my birthday (in the middle of the night when I stupidly checked my phone and then couldn’t go back to sleep for 2 hours).
t’s kind of a big birthday - the big 5-0 - and a lot happened this week. My bike was ready earlier than expected… still can’t ride it because I haven’t gotten the helmet I ordered, but it’s parked in my parking space… waiting. I also had a contrast CT scan… and you guys… that was such a weird experience…. If you’ve ever had one, you know what I mean. i am hoping for good results.
I think that’s about it for this week which I feel like was/is a lot. Sending light, love and creativity.
