ICYMI Flash Frog Pub and Planning My Vacation

As the title states, if you missed reading my little micro, And Nothing Else To Do in Flash Frog, I would be grateful if you did!

Created in SmokeLong’s Fitness, I first wrote this in second person and then shifted it to first person plural and man does it carry so much more weight. I feel like there are a lot of pieces about growing up in a small town or outside of big metropolitan areas and that this piece speaks to the feeling of being stuck in one place for what feels like an eternity.

I have also spent the last couple of weeks planning my vacation. We are going to an island off the coast of Tokyo (and it’s actually still a part of Tokyo which is so cool), called Hachijo Island.

My plan is to not write, not draw, not do anything but sit on the black sand beach or swim along the coral lined beachfront. Eat lots of lilikoi as well as the fermented local specialty, kusaya, enjoy a salt water hot spring in a rainforest next to a waterfall and just be a bum.

I need a hard reset and I am hoping this trip will give me the rest and recharge I have been needing.

I have some good news that I can’t quite mention yet (waiting for permission to post about it) but I got an acceptance from a hard to get into lit mag so that’s been amazing!
