Golden Week Mini-Vacay, Fractured Pub & Craft Acceptance
This week has been a whirlwind of wow!
It’s Golden Week in Japan and we decided to escape to the mountains (Karuizawa in Nagano) for a night and then the beach (Kobarihama in Niigata) for the day.
From our cheap hotel room - ignore the power lines lol
Those dudes are packing up their portable sauna… like seriously…
I’m back home now and plan to zone out the rest of the week/weekend. I am hoping that this vacation is enough to recharge my creative batteries to finish the first full draft of this novel.
I started the week (May 1) with a publication in Fractured Literary - They Would Have Told You! I have just been so stoked by the response online! Thank you everyone who read and tweeted it!
I also got an acceptance for National FlashFlood on the same day! My micro “Her Red Door Open” will appear around 4:10 a.m. BST (12:10 pm JST) on Saturday, the 24th of June 2023 (National Flash Fiction Day 2023).
Then, on May 3 while in the mountains, I got an acceptance from Craft! They accepted all 3 micros that I had submitted. I just signed the contract and the expected publication date is November 17!
I will be honest… this year is reaffirming that what I am doing is reaching people - that there are editors and magazines and journals who understand and want to promote my work. I am always so worried that what I am doing is so niche - micros mainly about Hawai’i - and that I’m crazy to think that they are what people want to read.
All I can say is stick to what speaks to you and others will find a connection to it.
As always, sending light and love and creativity!
