Submission Stats for 2023 and Hanging in the Top 3 in the Rejection Competition

I’m seeing lots of people posting their Submission Stats for the year on the site that shall not be named so I thought I’d join in, especially as I feel that transparency and honesty are a part of my thing in my weekly talk story so here it goes - as of December 22, 2023 (8:00am Japan Standard Time):

• Submissions: 240

• Acceptances: 32

• Rejections: 181

• Pending: 47

• Withdrawals: 47

• Acceptance Rate: 13.7%

All of this data is based on my Duotrope account. I think it’s been a good year but I don’t know if this is sustainable, so it’s another thing I will need to think about going forward. Also, I would like to say that I have only submitted once this month and December is almost over, so I might be done subbing for the year unless I feel the urge for a submission spree.

With 181 rejections, I’m tied for second place in the Rejection Competition! I am hoping to get to 200 rejections by the end of the year but we shall see.
