Forget Hot Girl Summer, Stay Home Summer Is On

I really wanted to go somewhere this summer, maybe the coast, maybe the mountains, maybe a lakeside cabin (like this one), but the cases in my prefecture have gone from hundreds to thousands in less than a week.

Since we don’t have a car, we are limited to public transportation, which is an amazing option when there isn’t a pandemic going on, but the risk of infection is just too high.

The positive in all of this is I can write and read and participate in workshops and play video games and sit on my lanai, my little oasis we created our first summer in lockdown.

I have some upcoming publications:

  • Next week my first essay for Reckon Review will be up! Super stoked about it. I hope you all like it!

  • At the end of the month, a little micro I wrote about Jeff Goldblum inspired by a tweet from the legendary Barlow Adams will be up at Cobra Milk.

Finally, Longleaf Review will be opening for submissions!! There are two submission calls - one for our Wayback Issue and the other for our 13 Nights of Horror! Check out our submission guidelines and get ready to send us your best! I am really looking forward to reading your work! Also, I have one slot left in my office hours for tomorrow if you want to come talk story with me, and I have a bunch available for the following Friday!! Come share space with me!

Sending you all love and light and creativity!!
