My #The100DayProject of 100 Days of Flash

I will start #The100DayProject on January 31!

My goal is to write a full story every day for one hundred days. All flash!

And what perfect timing…I scored a spot on Kathy Fish’s Fast Flash Workshop which starts on February 2 with ten days full of prompts, writing and workshopping.

So that just leaves me with 90 other daily prompts…

Actually, I was crazy enough to make a list in Excel by dates already but had to alter it when I found out the news.

About thirty of them are taken directly from Writing Prompts For Quarantine created by Kathy Fish last year. I will also be adding Kathy’s monthly newsletter prompts to my list.

So that takes care of about 33 more prompts. I have filled the rest with various random prompt ideas I have found online or made up myself…all purposefully vague to allow for my freedom in creating.

I wrote some guidelines for me to follow:

  • Give yourself at least 15 minutes. If you have more time, then great.

  • Write as much you need. No more. No less. No pressure.

  • You don’t have to use the day’s prompt. Feel free to change it.

  • Be kind to yourself. If you are tired, don’t be upset if you can’t write or complete the day’s challenge.

  • The goal is to create a complete story every day. Can you do it? You won’t know if you don’t try!

On top of this daily challenge, I will also try to continue creating art daily as well as practicing the ukulele. I am trying very hard not to feel overwhelmed but there is one thing this pandemic has taught me is that I have the time to do this. I can either wallow in sadness and depression or I can take charge of my creative life.

So here’s to me taking charge!
