Forcing Myself To Create

I am trying something “new.”

I figured if I can force myself to run (or walk depending on my schedule or time of day - can’t run at 9 at night) every day for a minimum of 30 minutes, then I can at least force myself to be creative every day. Whether that is writing, knitting, crocheting, drawing, painting, or playing music, I just need that creative space for myself.

I know. I know. All “successful” writers do this. It’s what the work requires. It just hasn’t been my way before.

Also, I think I need to keep challenging myself. Try to write differently, not for publication (although that is the ultimate goal), but just to be a better writer.

The fairy tale challenge really helped me to think about writing outside of my normal Hawaiian writing voice, to stretch my writing muscles a bit.

I am not sure how successful I will be at it but it’s worth a shot.
