Blowing Glass

I had the opportunity to make a glass cup this week. It was one of the best artisan experiences I have ever had.

The teacher was patient and kind. She was knowledgeable and spoke simply and easily.

I know that she probably has worked with more children than adults because this art village catered to children, so I think that’s why her teaching style was very easy to follow.

What I was inspired by was her strength. Her ability to keep being patient even when it was sweltering in the workshop next to the hot as hell furnaces she worked with.

Knowing your art well enough to teach others in a non-condescending manner is always inspirational.

I actually wondered if it would have been different if a man had been our teacher instead.

My glass will be ready in about two to three weeks. I am looking forward to the results.
