Can Writing Be Like Running?

Why can I force myself to run for thirty minutes every day but I can’t seem to do the same thing with my writing?

It’s crazy to me that now it’s literally easier to get on a treadmill and run than it is to sit down and write. I guess it makes sense. Running requires nothing more from me than my body and brain working together. I don’t have to focus on anything more than my breath and how my body is doing.

Writing requires way more effort.

I keep hoping that if I focus on my health, eventually my brain and writing will fall into place.

I guess I could do the same thing with writing that I am doing with running. Maybe setting that time aside for writing will be good for me. It’s never really been my way of doing things, but then again, neither was running, and I have been doing that for over six months now.

I think I need to seriously consider writing for thirty minutes every day. Maybe like huffing and puffing through my first few months of running, my brain will huff and puff until it just gets used to being in the space I create for it. Can I lose shitty ideas and crap writing like I have been losing fat and pounds?

I guess it’s worth a try.
