What the Eff Is Middle Aged?

I haven’t hit that dreaded milestone yet but I am a close couple of year’s throw away.

I try to be positive about my age. So many people say it’s better than not or age is just a number or look at all the famous people who accomplished amazing things after they were 40, and yes that’s all wonderful but isn’t it just like the American dream? For every one person that achieves something amazing, there are the rest of us believing we can too if we just work hard enough.

I feel like I waited too long for my publications’ window. There are younger and better writers from Hawaii doing the same thing I am. How can I offer something people feel they can connect with?

Then again, why the eff should I feel that my age means anything? I write what I feel passionate about. Isn’t that enough? I will just keep doing my best and hope that editors and readers will understand what I am trying to do.

And seriously if you don’t feel middle aged, then does it have any meaning at all?
