Is It Really All About the Blurbs and My Latest Pub in The Sunlight Press

It’s hard out there for a girl to get a blurb from a more established writer… I have spent my week emailing agents, filing out contact forms, responding to extremely nice nos from many of them and some really wonderful yeses too.

I feel like everyone, including a very well known writer with whom I have a personal connection with, is on a blurb hiatus. It’s frustrating and I feel so much pressure to try to get one or two of these writers for Bitter over Sweet. I’m not complaining. I’m just being transparent.

If you have a book coming out in the fall, start sending out those requests now.

I’m grateful that I am even getting any responses back. It’s scary just emailing someone’s agent to request that they spend their time doing something for free and then asking their writer to do something free too. It’s so stressful, and really not one of my strengths…. but like learning to ride a motorcycle (which we can agree is way scarier), I just did it and didn’t think about it too hard.

Also, you know what else is hard? Pitching articles, essays, lists to places like Huffington Post. How does a girl get in there? I feel like I have to spam the crap out of their pitch emails just to get any traction, but again, I just need to do it and stop talking myself out of it. Wish me luck everyone!!

Finally, if you haven’t had the chance to check it out, my latest micro is up at The Sunlight Press - Pelelehua! Hope you read it!

I know that the 20th is coming and many of you are worried, scared, angry… All I can do is send you light, love and most of all creativity.. because sometimes we need that most of all in the darkness.
