Setting Myself Up For Success

I don’t write every day. I never have. I have never been one of those kinds of writers.

This week I was able to write some flash that I actually really enjoyed writing…It’s the first piece of writing I have done since last summer. I would like to thank Kathy Fish and her new newsletter for her very helpful and inspiring prompt: “This Is a Story About…” I plan to polish it up today and put it out in the world.

I also think I will do the 100 Day Project which starts on January 31. Originally, my plan was to do an ukulele challenge but recording myself playing every day for one hundred days and posting it to social media sounds like it might take more time than I have. So, I decided to create one hundred flash writing prompts! I used the prompts from last year’s Writing Prompts For Quarantine that I wasn’t able to complete as a starting point. I need to finish the list and I will post it next week.

I decided that I will set myself up to succeed. I will make easy and inspiring prompts. I will create easy rules to follow. I will create the time and space for me to do this and hopefully complete 100 pieces of viable flash that I can send out for publications. I learned that I am capable of a daily practice, especially with art, so I am hoping to carry over that knowledge and ability to my writing.

Wish me luck!
