Rejection City
It’s a common refrain from many writers out there. Rejection after rejection. It’s kind of nice knowing that I am not the only one when I see more successful writers encountering the same thing.
It’s difficult not to to be bitter, especially when a journal or a publisher actually solicits work from you only to turn around and reject you. I mean, yes, I am aware that it was always a possibility but my writing style and subject matter haven’t really changed so what is it about the work they read to make the offer and the work that I submitted, which didn’t make the cut...it’s just confusing.
I have some plans for the end of the month. Polishing up some things I wrote about Japan for an echapbook contest and working on a zine for the biannual zine shindig in my city.
I just have to keep reminding myself that rejection (even the many I have gotten so far this year) is all part of being a writer and not something I can control. I can only just be true to myself and keep writing.
