Am I too Narrow of Focus?

I usually write about growing up in Hawaii. It’s my strength.

With what’s happening in America, I feel that maybe I should be more concerned with the horrible things happening right now.

I have struggled with it this week. Trying to see if it would be possible for me to write about the loss of rights for women, the horrible sex trafficking, the border camps...

How do I add these things to the stories that I write without shoehorning them in?

I finally decided that I can’t. If it comes organically, then I will welcome it.

This does make me feel like I am not doing what I should with my art but that’s just not me. I ultimately have to be true to myself.
