Vast Chasm Pub, Best Small Fictions, No Acceptances, Yet, and Getting Asked To Submit
Another week in to this year and January is almost done. How?
In case you missed it earlier this week, I had my second publication of the year at Vast Chasm. Hope you check out “Just Chill Out, Okay” when you get the chance. The editors were a joy to work with and they really made my little micro shine!
I also got my copy of Best Small Fictions! So happy to have my story, “Skin and Bone,” which first appeared in Astrolabe in it! I hope you get your copy soon!
I have not a received a single acceptance yet and I’m currently at 24 rejections so far this year. I’m okay with it and at the same time I’m not but what can you do? I do submit to places now that have much slower turnaround times and that is a choice I made when I started submitting higher up the tier levels. That being said, I would really love to have one before the end of January (pretty please, universe).
Finally, some wonderful news (besides my publication). I was asked to submit somewhere. Getting an email from someone at a literary journal who has read my work and would like me to send something to them is always an awesome feeling. This has happened only a handful of times and not every time do they accept the work I send but it’s still really good to be sought out and solicited (that sounds kind of dirty lol).
I hope that you are all well and staying safe! Sending love, light and creativity.
PS: I am going to start fundraising for AWP in 2025 so keep your eye out for workshops and such!
