Awakenings Anthology, Fractured's Bittersweet Love, and Not Being an It Girl
It’s October 27 here in Japan so I am celebrating the amazing anthology Awakenings - curated by Diane Gottlieb! I don’t have my own copy yet (it’s way to expensive to send books to me) but I am honored to have a little micro in there about perimenopause and tampons that are too small. I hope you consider picking up a copy from ELJ Editions!
I’m also honored to have the first published piece for Exodus Brownlow’s BIPOC Bittersweet Love Anthology in Fractured Lit with Fire and Sea - in case you missed it earlier this week, I hope you check it out! It’s short but sexy. Today, you can read Vincent Anioke’s piece At World’s End!
Finally, I just want to drop in on the whole weird Lit It Girl thing going around… while I appreciate some of the creative endeavors that some of these authors have put into the promotion of their work, just the thought of promoting my work in such a fashion gives me so much anxiety…. just reading the article gave me so much imposter syndrome and fomo that I had to stop reading it.
I thought that creating my own book covers as well as getting some bookmarks and stickers for Hard Skin was like super amazing given that I live in a different country from the majority of my readers.
And now I am thinking, am I too old, is my mind so inflexible that I can’t even conceive of doing the things these supposed It Girls are doing, and I remember I don’t have to care. I’m me. I am doing my own thing, and that’s okay. We are all doing our own thing - more power to those who want that for themselves - I just want to be successful enough that my writing pays for itself.
As always, sending light, love and creativity to you all! Stay safe and take care of yourselves!
