Materializing in Astrolabe and Dealing with Burnout
Today (who am I kidding, this month) is kind of a yayboo situation as I like to call it.
So, let’s start with the yay and celebrate my pubs on the solstice in the new Astrolabe! Find my stars in their constellations - Conch: Once Upon a Time in Hawaii & Owl: Skin and Bone!
I am truly honored to have been asked to submit my work for consideration. It’s always a good feeling when literary magazines and journals solicit submissions. It’s an even better feeling when they actually accept the work you submit. I am so grateful to Joel Hans and Jae Towle Vieira! Thank you!
They are offering free submissions for fiction, creative nonfiction, and photography & art until Tuesday, January 31st 2023, at 9am Pacific time, and they pay! So please consider submitting and joining me in forging a new universe!
Now for my boo situation - I might have mentioned before that I am participating in SmokeLong’s Fitness workshop. The prompts are great and I love the community but these last couple of weeks I have felt burnt out…again… I know. I know. I hit that in October too but seriously - I don’t know if it’s hormones or the season or the pandemic (we are still in pandemic mode in Japan - even with open borders) but I just can’t seem to write anything new.
It’s depressing.
I’m always telling others to take care of themselves and sometimes I need to listen to my own damn advice. So…here’s me listening to my own damn advice and not pressuring myself to write when I just don’t feel like it and also not feeling like shit when I don’t write. The pressure we put on ourselves is crazy.
I hope for those celebrating holidays this week/weekend that you are safe and that you are taking care of yourselves. Sending light and love and rest!
