I have been trying to play the guitar every day using Gibson’s book. I play around 15 minutes or more depending on how my fingers feel.

It’s slow going.

I can play the major scale. I can sight read accurately most of the time. I still have trouble with the last three strings. I have a few chords memorized.

I wish I were further along than I am.

One of the issues I am finding is that by trying to learn to play the guitar I have actually found that my ukulele playing has suffered. My transitions and strumming have become choppy. It’s really weird. I am sure many amateur musicians have found themselves in similar situations when they have tried to cross the instrument streams.

So now to counter that, I have picked up my ukulele after I have practiced the guitar so that I can get used to playing them so close together and understand the way my hands, fingers and body feels when I play them both.

I am hoping this will work to get myself mentally and physically okay with playing them both without too many issues.
