I started this blog about one year ago. I have tried to be faithful to it by writing something every Friday. It’s been tough but rewarding.

Reading over the varied and eclectic topics, I feel as if my mind and my creative life are all over the place.

I will take that as a positive.

I do wish that I had more completed works out there. Last year wasn’t a prolific one for me. Only one new story that was submitted and published. That’s something that should make me happy.

I did get invited to submit to a couple of places and was approached by an agency so these are definitely good things.

I still have my fear of tokenism. That fear loves to pop up especially when I am trying to write in an authentic voice. I have been so long removed from my homeland that I feel as if I have lost any credibility I once had. I struggle with my self-doubt all the time. I struggle with the idea that my work is chosen because of my subject matter and voice not because I am actually writing good stories.

Well...back to work I go. Wish me luck on my latest short story.
